New Core 5.1 features include roaming management, higher bitrate encoding, and automated and customizable metadata
[Waterloo, Ontario, August 28, 2018] Dejero, an innovator in cloud-managed solutions that provide video transport and Internet connectivity while mobile or in remote locations, is demonstrating new features of its Core 5.1 intelligent encoding and network blending software for the very first time at IBC 2018 (RAI Amsterdam, 14-18 September 2018, Stand 11.C15).
Giving broadcasters more control over the roaming capabilities of their individual cellular connections, a new roaming management feature allows customers to turn the roaming capability of their SIMs on or off. This will be especially useful to customers transmitting video near borders where signals from wireless network providers in other countries or jurisdictions may overlap, which can result in automatic connection to different mobile networks and accruing roaming charges.
It also enables users to turn roaming on when it’s the best option to go live from the field. This update allows field operators to manage roaming directly on the Dejero EnGo mobile transmitter lan Dejero PathWay rackmount transmitter.
Higher Bitrate Encoding
With this release, the maximum bitrate for live transmission over blended cellular connections has been doubled to 20 Mb/s to provide exceptional picture quality when there is sufficient bandwidth available. The availability of the higher encoding rate is managed by the station administrator using Dejero Control, and selectable by the operator in the field.
Automated and Customizable Metadata
Also with the Dejero Core 5.1 update, is the new automated and customizable metadata feature, which enables broadcasters to save time when managing and searching for ingested content. Broadcasters can now create custom metadata templates within Dejero Kontrol, Dejero’s cloud-based management system. With relevant auto-generated metadata defined by the templates, users at the station can quickly identify recorded clips instead of manually searching and tagging clips.
A metadata template is applied to all ingested clips at the station-level. Users can select from a list of ten pre-set fields, and include metadata such as geolocation and acquisition date—all auto populated from the transmitter. Customers can also add free-form fields that station operators can define to further organize recorded clips.
